The Difference Between Traditional and Digital Learning in the Education Process

What is the concept of traditional learning? Traditional learning refers to the educational system that takes place inside classroom environments in schools in its commonly known form. It includes a physical structure, with educational environments hosting a group of students from various academic, social, and other backgrounds. The transfer of learning, including knowledge, information, and ideas, is conducted by the educator, who is considered the central figure in the educational process and the primary source of knowledge. What is the concept of digital learning? Digital learning refers to the modern educational system that utilizes the internet and modern computers. It is a system that overcomes the challenges and drawbacks of traditional learning. What is the difference between traditional and digital learning? Each type of learning has its own set of characteristics, qualities, tools, methods, and educational approaches that distinguish it from other types. The major differences between digital and traditional learning can be summarized as follows: Traditional learning requires students to attend classes daily within the walls of a classroom environment, while digital learning offers education through the internet and various communication channels. Traditional learning provides educational content in the form of printed books and textbooks, while digital learning offers content as electronic books, web materials, and a variety of electronic resources, such as visual and audio materials. In traditional learning, the students’ role is often passive, as they do not participate in the transfer of learning. In contrast, digital learning involves students in the learning process, allowing them to exchange knowledge among themselves. Digital learning can be synchronous or asynchronous, whereas traditional learning requires students to be physically present in the classroom, with the teacher and students together at the same time and place. Traditional learning relies on the use of physical tools and methods.

success stories

It was a significant change in my life when I switched from my previous school to the academy.

Student’s name: not disclosed Technology Department “My chances of success will be very slim, if not impossible.” These were the words I overheard my teacher saying to my father, who was trying to convince her to give me another chance to retake the exam, do a project, or write a paper to improve my grade. Her words were like a shock to my ears. From that day on, I lost all interest in studying and going to school, especially since I had failed the subject and had to repeat the year. I hated everything. I didn’t even want to see my friends. What would I say to them? I failed and have to repeat the year. I stayed in this state all summer, speaking little and going out even less. My life became filled with despair, failure, and hopelessness. I announced my decision to quit studying. It no longer mattered to me. I felt like a failure, and that my life had no importance. Sadness dominated our home, especially for my mother, who was trying to boost my spirits, reminding me of my dreams and ambitions. I had always wanted to be a computer engineer like her. I remember that only a few days remained before the start of the new school year, and I was still determined not to go back to school. One day, my mother came to me and told me about a school called Academy of Future Minds that offers online education, specializing in science and technology, and that it would be the best solution for me. Initially, I didn’t care about what my mother said because I didn’t want to study, whether in school or online. But when I researched the academy and how it teaches, I found the concept to be new, especially when I learned that students can study according to their abilities, with no limits to learning. After much insistence and encouragement from my parents, I enrolled in the academy. This was the turning point in my life. I loved all the subjects, especially computer science. The teaching method was entirely different from my previous school. Honestly, I fell in love with studying, and I found myself repeating the saying, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” Now, I have learned a lot about computers, the internet, coding, and more… I’m even thinking about starting my own small project now. It was a significant change in my life when I switched from my previous school to the academy. “By joining Academy of Future Minds, I got the education I desired.” By Student: Mays Jamal Mohamed I remember at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I used to go to school feeling scared—not just me, but all of us students felt fear and anxiety about sitting close to each other. Then we switched to online classes. I used to feel anxious and bored sitting for hours in front of the computer listening to the teacher’s explanation. I remember being unable to focus on the information the teacher was explaining, and sometimes I would find myself sending messages to my friends in class without the teacher knowing, because I had lost track of the lesson, and then I found myself not understanding it. But my experience with Academy of Future Minds was different. The lessons turned from boring to enjoyable and exciting. I achieved great success, and the best part is that now I enjoy the lessons because they are interactive and presented in an engaging way, including activities, games, videos, and more.
